A reef is a ridge of jagged rock, coral, or sand just above or below the surface of the sea. Fancy to say it like that. However, I had no idea on how some governmental agencies around the world are trying to create artificial reefs, to recover those destroyed by human activities.
Believe it or not, to save the environment, large pieces of outdated or damaged equipment are legally dumped every year into the oceans. Those relics include dismissed subway cars, armored tanks, shipwrecks. And even more surprisingly, US aircraft carriers.
This is to say that what is best for the planet is not necessarily what an auto-referential self-elected-savior-of-the-world activist would probably think is the right thing to do.
